This draft of your Senior Portfolio is what you will use during your presentation. Make sure everything included, revised and allow yourself some time to practice presentation. The actual housing will also be graded by the panel members in your group, along with your presentation.

*Each Senior will get a chance during classtime the week leading up to presentation day, to do a “dry-run” of their presentation in front of their peers.*

• Make adjustments and insert content
o Adjust each page, as you see fit (change background color, or image, alter content space, etc.) while maintaining the same navagation throughout site.
o Insert written content for each page (Academics also include links to sample work)

How do you insert the written content?
o Open each Word document, containing written content→ select all and copy.
o Go to Insert→ Layout objects and select AP DIV
o drag over the area you wish to add text (for each page). If you need to use a scroll tab, select scroll for overflow setting (properties) before pasting in text.
o Once cursor is within text box, paste content within. Repeat process for every page.

• HOMEWORK: (will be used on respective pages)
o include an image/photo that is appropriate/fitting on each page, and within folder (seven total)

• Duplicate index.html 6-7 times and rename.
Once your navagation, graphics for content, and background image are included in the index.html file, you duplicate 6-7 times and rename each duplicate with the respective names:

academics.html
tech.html
community.html
resume.html
reflection.html
future.html
*song.html

*extra credit (not grad requirement)
It is extremely important that you look over the index.html carefully before duplicating to avoid having to make the same revision/s multiple times. Make sure to preview in a Browser (Iexplorer).

• Open all .html files, and link every button within your navagation ON EVERY PAGE.
Now that you have 6-7 duplicates of the index.html file (and have renamed), you can link the navigation. This process requires extra care to ensure that all pages are not only linked, but one can navagate from page to page without any issues.

How is this done?
Select a button by clicking on the image within the file.
Once selected, options will appear in Page Properties, at the bottom of screen. You will notice a box that says, link.
Click on the folder icon next to it, and find the .html file you wish to link it to. You will need to complete this process for each button, for every html file

• HOMEWORK: (will be used on home page)
o Write a paragraph which introduces your Portfolio. Also, you will want to mention the theme of your portfolio and why you chose to use it (how does the theme relate to you, your experience)
“Within this portfolio you will find…”

o include an appropriate portrait of self in folder

• CONTENT folder-
o All seven written assignments are revised and a copy of each should be located in a folder, titled, “CONTENT” [Tech Skills, Community, Academics, Future, Reflection, Resume (Deconstruct a song extra credit included in final)]

• IMAGES folder-
o All graphics used in assembling housing MUST BE included (slices- such as original and rollover nav images, content space, background images, photos for each page).

• INDEX.HTML file-
o Has rollover navagation included, as well as graphic for content space (within a table) Also, your header with (can by sliced from index comp):
• Student Name
• TechBoston Academy
• Sr Portfolio
• Class of 2010

At this stage, all Seniors are expected to have a working draft of their index comp.  All graphics and background within this comp will eventually be sliced, saved for web & devices, and used in your Senior Portfolio.  With-that-said, you will also create your Navigation bar and include it in your index comp.

Step 1-  Open your index comp in Photoshop

Step 2-  Create a new group in your layers pallette and name it , “original”

Step 3-  Select all of the layers, directly related to your Navigation (type and shapes)  and drag into Group (hold down shift or ctrl to select)

Step 4-  Once your navigation is complete and all layers ae within the group, right-click and “duplicate group”.  Rename the duplicate as “rollover”, make sure this group is above the “original” group in the layers pallette.

Step 5-  You will alter the group titled, “rollover”.  The alterations you make in this group will end up being your rollover effect, You can alter the text by font, color, fx, size (not too much, in order to fit within slice).  You can or add or alter shapes as well.

You can check out the rollover effect by turning the rollover group off/on.  You only have two frame to create a rollover effect so try not to alter too much, as the effect should look somewhat natural.

All Seniors are expected to include in their Academics page:
2 completed projects for the 6 subjects offered @ TBA.  One of the projects/assignments should be from a previous year (9,10,11 grade) and one should be from your senior year.  This is intended to show your academic growth.  Answer the following for each:

1. What exactly were you asked to do for this assignment? Describe the assignment, and explain which grade level you completed it in.

2. Why do you think this is your best work in this subject?

3. In which of your subjects did you improve the most? Explain why you think that was the case! (Only need to answer once)

(6 subjects: History, English, Math, Science, Language, and, of course, Technology).

Keep in mind that you should include work from previous years.  This will help to reveal your growth as a student.

1. 2. Describe what specifically you had to do for each class, and in what ways it related to the overarching theme.

Website Comp:
Using a Grid to Build your puzzle

So far in Web Workflow, we have already made a couple of Website Comps (group company, UNICEF).  However, for our term II IP housing we will make a DIFFERENT type of comp.  As I have said, we will be peicing together our website with IMAGES ONLY.  Therefore, it is EXTRA important to consider the lay-out of your site and how much space you need for each.

I have posted a template for ALL to build from.  This template is meant to serve as a guide, in creating your comp.  Remember this comp should look exactly how you want for the actual site.

Important!:

*YOU DON’T NEED TO RECREATE YOUR NAVBAR!*

All you need to do is create a shape that fits the needed dimmensions for the Navbar you designed, and write “Navigation”, within it.

What I am expecting for your Comp:

• Build from Grid template: Having the grid will allow you to effectively manage spacing for your lay-out
• Designate Correct space: Using the grid, make sure you do the following:
  • Content: at least 12 squares across.  You decide how much vertical space you need.
  • Header: 6 squares across, 3 squares tall
  • Navbar:
    • For vertical:  3 squares across. You decide how much vertical space you need.
    • For horizontal: 2 squares tall. You decide how much horizontal space you need.

***MAKE SURE THAT YOU ADHERE TO THE GIVEN DIMMENSIONS LISTED ABOVE, WHEN YOU CREATE YOUR COMP!***
