• 6th grade – Ancient Civilizations of the Mediterranean.  Students will study: the origins of human beings in Africa through the Neolithic Age,  and the emergence and importance of the following civilizations: Mesopotamia, Egypt, Phoenicia, Ancient Israel, Ancient Greece, and Ancient Rome. Required Assessments/Products: History Notebook, BPS Mid and End-of-Course Assessments, BPS Ancient Civilizations Historical Thinking/Writing Tasks
• 7th grade –  World Geography. Students will study the physical geography of the world outside of the United States and North America and its impact on the lives of people throughout the world.  The following concepts are at the heart of each section of the World Geography course: The World in Spatial Terms, Places and Regions, Physical Systems, Human Systems, Environment and Society, and The Uses of Geography.  Required Assessments/Products: Geography Notebook, World Geography Mapping Labs, World Geography Writing for Understanding Exercises, BPS Mid and End-of-Course Assessments.
• 8th grade –  Civics.   The focus of the course is on: building students’ mastery of challenging subject matter in civics and government, preparing students for responsible citizenship; and involving students in civic action projects that promote and demonstrate good citizenship, community service, and personal responsibility.
