The Language department at TechBoston Academy teaches the following subjects according to grade:
- Grade 10: French I, Spanish I
- Grade 11: French II, Spanish II
Ms. Heather Kissel

This is Ms. Kissel’s first year teaching Spanish I and II at TechBoston Academy. She previously taught in Pittsburgh, PA and St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. She has a B.A. in Spanish from Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico and a Masters degree in Foreign Language Education from the University of Pittsburgh.
Prior to teaching, Ms. Kissel worked with Spanish speaking families at non-profit social service agencies and volunteered at a school in Jamaica. She enjoys urban bike riding, hiking, photography, traveling as much as possible and experimenting with fused glass. Ms. Kissel has two Puerto Rican cats name Margarita and Chiquita.
Ms. Laura Olsen

Ms. Olsen has been at TechBoston since the 2006/07 school year, however it is her tenth year teaching secondary school French in Massachusetts.
Ms. Olsen received a Masters in French Literature from Boston University. Her Bachelor of Arts is from Colby College in Waterville, ME in French Studies and Secondary Education.
Outside of school, Ms. Olsen enjoys the theater, shopping, traveling and spending time with her family. She just returned from another enjoyable summer with friends and family in Ireland. This year Ms. Olsen will be teaching French I, II, and II Honors.
